Abundance of body is the attitude and practice of giving to yourself by nourishing your physical self. It includes gratitude for your physical body. Abundance of body means loving and honoring your physical self unconditionally, and supporting yourself physically rather than blaming and harming your physical body.
The table below gives you a quick look at what abundance of body looks like, in the context of lack and abundance blocks manifested (of course, this list is by no means exhaustive).
|Exercise to look good||Exercise to feel good|
|Food as escape/ stress relief||Food as nourishment|
|Food while bingeing alone||Food as a social experience|
|Distorted body image||Realistic body image|
|Equating self-worth with physical appearance||Looking good because you love yourself|
When you are not giving to yourself physically, when you are not nourishing your physical body, when you are placing negative value judgements on yourself based on your clothing size, when you tell yourself that you need to imbibe a harmful, addictive substance to feel complete, you are telling yourself one thing very clearly: you lack, and you do not deserve better.
Do you really believe this to be true? Or do you think you deserve physical abundance?
To be clear, eating a bag of potato chips once in a while doesn’t mean you lack abundance of body or self-love! In fact, extreme, obsessive behaviour when it comes to eating healthily (or that wholly abused catchphrase, ‘eating clean’) can also point to a pattern of lack in your abundance of body, which is manifesting as overcompensating for some perceived lack in your physical self.
